“Why I Won’t Blame My Sister For Taking Me To Court,” Sen. Adaramodu

The Senate Spokesperson, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, representing Ekiti South Senatorial district in the National Assembly, has hailed the tribunal verdict that validated his electoral victory at the poll.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) South senatorial candidate in Ekiti during the last, Senator Biodun Olujimi, whom Adaramodu described as her sister had dragged him to court to challenge his victory at the poll, where the tribunal affirmed his electoral victory.

Adaramodu who described himself as a promise keeper, pointed out that Senator Olujimi would not blame her sister for taking him to court over his victory at the poll, saying that is part of the process.

Senator Adaramodu who stated this during an interview with THISDAY added that his performance was what gave him the advantage to win overwhelmingly during the last election in Ekiti State.

“I have served them in the House of Representatives and I touched all the towns and villages in Ekiti South constituency 1, and there were no promises I made which I didn’t fulfilled. Having that in mind, the people saw me as a promise keeper which is why they all voted for me and that is what the tribunal affirmed in their verdict” he explained.

He however noted that he would not blame Senator Olujimi for challenging his victory adding that, it is part of the electoral process.

“Going to tribunal is part of electoral process, and it is in line with Electoral Act 2022. So, tribunal is part of electoral process meaning that don’t result to self help if you feel dissatisfied of the process and procedure of all elections you can go to court and then ventilate and you get redress” he explained.

“My initial reaction was that of surprise that my opponent, who is my own sister went to court because the election result of Feb 2023 was not in her favour.”

“For me I think it’s a fair verdict because it was very obvious that people from Ekiti South Senatorial district voted for me overwhelmingly. When you look at the results in six local government areas.

“So I will not blame my sister for taking me to court. That i won overwhelmingly across the local governments and the difference was very clear, that doesn’t mean who was dissatisfied can not seek redress, the judicial gave their verdict.

“I believe the verdict was fair enough, good enough and excellent enough. That shows that people of Ekiti South Senatorial district voted for me Yemi Adaramodu as a senator” he boasted.
