Why Chief, Deity Priests and Others Must Adhere Strictly to Chiefs Law Banning Wearing of Royal Regalia

In line with the Ekiti State government release of Tuesday, 6th May 2025 stressing the ban on all Chiefs, Priests and others in the state from wearing, parading or adorning themselves with Royal Paraphernalia meant for Obas only , I hereby direct that all Chiefs, Deity Priests and others in Ilawe-Ekiti should adhere strictly to the directive of the Government which is in line with Ekiti State Chiefs law. Any infraction will be dealt with according to the law.

I wish to state without equivocation and for the avoidance of doubt that the release by government and the Chiefs law did not exempt any body from this long standing law. In addition, it is a contravention of the law for any body to parade himself or herself as a Chief without the approval of the Prescribed Authority.

I am to add that the suspension of festivals in Irorin Quarters of the town on Saturday, 1/3/2025,will remain in force until further notice.
