Today marks the five months that Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO) was sworn into office as the Governor of Ekiti State.
Thank God that the product we advertised and sold to Ekiti people is today making everyone proud and ecstatic. The present performance of BAO can be likened to a Yoruba axiom which says: “Bi egun eni ba joore, ori a ma ya atokun.” That’s, if a masquerade dances well, then the followers are impressed.
Putting it in succinct fashion, the Ekiti people, who elected BAO on the 18th of June, 2022 are indeed more than impressed with his performance, charisma and leadership style that is resonating down to the grassroots, and among the poorest of the poor.
Even those who did not initially believe in the BAO project for obvious reasons are now the ones spreading the gospel of the BAO’s administration, while some of us who were doing the marketing then are now the ultimate winners.
In all of his electioneering campaigns, he promised never to fail or disappoint Ekiti people. His campaign mantra suggested a man who has garnnerd enough experience from four different Governors and is fully prepared to channel a new future for Ekiti State based on the foundation already laid by his predecessors.
Little wonder, BAO is meticulously adhering to that covenant he made with the good people of Ekiti State. He was deploying his wealth of experience to continue the good work Dr Kayode Fayemi pioneered.
Five months down the line, BAO is now like MTN, “everywhere you go”. The speed at which he has moved his administration within this short period remains a subject of debate to students of politics and history. It is no longer news that workers, pensioners, students, artisans, and the general public are daily hailing him on the streets.
Oyebanji’s administration has continued to score high marks in Human Capital Development, Infrastructure, Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Good Governance to transform Ekiti and make it a microcosm of development. He’s also working very hard to improve Agriculture, Rural Development, and industrialization as a way of improving internal revenue generation and job creation.
No doubt, Oyebanji is taking the Ekiti touch so high for the world to see, do business, and invest in our peaceful environment. The future of Ekiti under BAO has a good prognosis for citizenry.
The fact that Ekiti people shared different political views and inclinations does not matter at this point as all the strata of the Ekiti public are saying kudos to Oyebanji for a job well done.
To date, Oyebanji has not deviated from his promise and vision to make Ekiti a land of honour and prosperity, where equity, justice, fair play, and stability will thrive.
Also of importance to mention is the complementary roles being played by the wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji, to alleviate the suffering of women and promote their well-being.
Looking back five months after, it’s important to let’s all reminisce on his mantra that: “I assure you that by God’s grace and the support of our people, together With You, We Will Keep Ekiti Working.”
