Just In! Ijero Rainstorm: Reps Member Omoleye Donates N1m, Pledges Federal Support

Member of the House of Representatives representing Ekiti Central Federal Constituency II (Ijero, Ekiti West and Efon), Hon. Biodun Omoleye, has sympathised with residents of Ijero-Ekiti over the devastating rainstorm that wreaked havoc in the community on Wednesday evening.

The lawmaker described the incident as unfortunate and distressing, noting that the heavy downpour caused significant damage to homes, properties and sources of livelihood, thereby calling for urgent intervention and collective support.

In a statement issued in Ado-Ekiti, Omoleye extended his condolences to the traditional ruler of Ijero-Ekiti, the Owa Ajero, Oba Dr. Joseph Adebayo Adewole, and families affected by the disaster.

He assured victims of his solidarity and immediate action, announcing a personal donation of N1 million to provide relief for those impacted.

“As an immediate step, I will personally visit Ijero-Ekiti to assess the level of destruction and interact with affected residents. I am also making a personal donation of one million naira to support ongoing relief efforts, while pursuing urgent federal assistance and emergency response,” he said.

Omoleye further disclosed that relevant authorities and agencies would be engaged to ensure prompt support for the community and to explore measures that could help prevent future occurrences.

He commended the resilience and unity of the people of Ijero-Ekiti in the face of adversity and urged residents to remain calm as interventions are being mobilised.

The lawmaker also reaffirmed his commitment to the development of the area, pledging continued support for the Owa Ajero Palace Commissioning Project scheduled for February 23, describing it as a symbol of cultural pride and communal progress.
