Following recent disappointing defeat suffered by British heavyweight boxer, Anthony Joshua against Olesandre Usyk, an Ekiti born boxer in Nigeria, Adewale Masebinu (Masevex) says there were professional deficiencies in the tactics adopted by Joshua .

The Ikere Ekiti born pugilist said though AJ tried but he could have secured a better result if he had taken cognizance of some lapses which his opponent took advantage of during the fight.

The Nigeria’s National Light Heavyweight title holder, Masevex spotted poor foot-movement as one of the weaknesses of Anthony Joshua against Usyk.

He also noted that most of the punches by Joshua that had power were without speed while Usyk had better movement and powerful punches on the night.

Masevex said AJ who was a younger boxer tried but he would have won the bout if he had better movement and tactics.

He urged Nigerian boxers especially those in Ekiti state to work more on their tactics rather than depend on power alone stressing that Nigerian boxers have the ability and potentials to be world beaters if governments at all levels give attention to the game of boxing rather than over concentrate on football.

The pugilist who described one of the professional Ekiti born boxers, Omotola Alaba .a.k.a Elibow as an individual with great future also advised boxing promoters in Nigeria to genuinely invest more on boxers and boxing .

Masebinu said poor welfare packages and poor incentives from boxing promoters was another bane hampering the development of the game adding that virtually all boxers in the country are being enslaved by promoters while governments are also not helping .
