EKITI STATE GOVT PROVIDES UPDATE ON REPORTS OF ODOURS IN ADO-EKITI

The Ekiti State Government is aware of recent reports of unusual odours in parts of Ado-Ekiti and surrounding areas.

At this time, there is no confirmed evidence of a widespread public health risk. Residents are encouraged to remain calm and continue their normal daily activities.

The Government has, however, initiated a coordinated response involving the Ministry of Health & Human Services and the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources to better understand the situation.

Information received from residents over the past 24 hours indicates that the odours have been noticed at different times, particularly during late-night and early-morning hours, and in various locations across the city.

While the exact source has not yet been identified, relevant teams are carrying out ongoing assessments, including air quality checks and inspections of possible environmental sources.

As part of this effort, the Government has strengthened monitoring, improved information gathering from affected areas, and intensified sanitation activities at key waste sites and public spaces.

Residents who notice persistent or unusual odours are encouraged to report them, including the location and time, through the appropriate channels to support the ongoing investigation.

The Ekiti State Government appreciates the cooperation of residents and will continue to provide updates as more information becomes available.

Chief (Mrs) Tosin Aluko Ajisafe

Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources
