Igboho: Obasanjo meets Benin Republic Leaders

 

Heritagenewsng reports that former President, Olusegun Obasanjo has reportedly met with some leaders in Benin Republic to negotiate asylum for Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo a.k.a Sunday Igboho.

Heritagenewsng gathered that the former president pleaded with the country’s leadership not to allow Igboho’s extradition to Nigeria.

He made the plea when he made a condolence visit to Nicephore Soglo, a former president of Benei republic who recently lost his wife.

The former President had travelled to Tanzania on August 1 and rerouted to Benin.

“He’s asking the Beninese authorities to grant the separatist leader asylum, and not to return him to Nigeria,” a source in the Benin diplomatic circle was quoted to have said. “The former president intervened on the request of some south-west leaders.”
