Ekiti State University (EKSU), Ado Ekiti, has recorded a major academic milestone as the National Universities Commission (NUC) granted full accreditation to three additional programmes, including Nursing Science, further strengthening the institution’s standing among Nigeria’s leading universities.

The newly accredited programmes—Nursing Science, Adult Education, and Education English Language—received the NUC’s full approval following a rigorous accreditation exercise conducted in October/November 2025 to assess the university’s compliance with minimum academic standards in staffing and facilities.

The approval, conveyed in a letter dated April 7, 2026, and signed by the NUC’s Director of Accreditation, Abraham Chundusu, is valid for a period of five years, after which the programmes will be due for reaccreditation.
With this latest development, EKSU has now achieved full accreditation status for all its academic programmes, raising the number from 76 to 79—an accomplishment that effectively places the institution at a 100 per cent accreditation rating.

Reacting to the development, the Vice-Chancellor, Joseph Babatola Ayodele, described the feat as a significant leap in the university’s quest for academic excellence, innovation, and relevance to societal needs.

He expressed appreciation to the NUC for its continued support and also acknowledged the contributions of the Ekiti State Government, particularly Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, the University Governing Council, and the Senate for their roles in achieving the milestone.

Confirming the development, the Head of Information and Corporate Affairs, Adedoyin Ayobami, said the accreditation reflects EKSU’s sustained investment in quality teaching, research, and infrastructure, noting that the university remains committed to maintaining high academic standards across all programmes.

The accreditation of Nursing Science, in particular, is expected to boost the training of healthcare professionals and contribute to strengthening Nigeria’s health sector, while the other programmes further expand EKSU’s capacity in education and human development.

The achievement underscores EKSU’s growing reputation as a centre of academic excellence committed to producing graduates equipped for national development and global competitiveness.
