By Gbenga Sodeinde

Fresh Crisis is again brewing in Ekiti People’s Democracy Party (PDP) following a statement signed the Chairman of PDP in Efon Local Government, Hon. Seun Akindele, accusing the former Chairman in the state and Party flag bear in the just concluded july 18, 2022 election in the state, Hon. Bisi Kolawole of staging a come back as chairman of the party in the state.

Hon Akindele’s statement reads:, ” My attention has been drawn to a baseless rumour doing the rounds by a nameless author insinuating that the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Candidate in the 2022 governorship election, Otunba Bisi Kolawole is making moves to stage a comeback as the party’s chairman in Ekiti State.

“By virtue of the derogatory, malicious and mischievous tone of the writeup, one is tempted to disregard and not join issues with whoever is behind such, since it is crystal clear that the content is not in the interest of the progress of our beloved party.

“However, Joseph Goebbels, the great Nazi once said; “Repeat a lie often enough and it becomes the truth”, this is the reason this reaction is coming. I will be moderate because I am for peace and I know Otunba Bisi Kolawole is for peace.

“To set the records straight, Otunba Bisi Kolawole has no intention to return to the position of Ekiti State Chairman as rivers do not flow backwards. I want to believe the author of this rumour has unfettered access to the man in question, did he call to ask if he actually wants to go back? The answer is No. If this is politics, then it is politics of bitterness that will take us nowhere, it must stop forthwith.

“As members with the interest of the party at heart, we must talk to one another, we must call one another to clarify insinuations, we are not enemies, we must go back to the round table.

“Otunba Bisi Kolawole as the immediate past governorship candidate of the PDP in Ekiti naturally and automatically becomes the face of the party in the state and beyond. This position comes with responsibilities, utmost amongst which is the task to unify members as well as tendencies within and beyond the party.

“Otunba Bisi Kolawole has a duty to work with other leaders in the state, he has a mandate to bring back to the fold, PDP members who left for SDP and APC pre governorship election, this I believe we should allow him do without distraction. We can aspire for positions in the party, we can achieve our desires without maligning others, I believe.

“The hope of the Ekiti State People’s Democratic Party staging a come back in the nearest future lies in Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s victory come February 2023, it is the duty of every well meaning member of the party to do his or her best in ensuring this dream turns to reality. We can do our bits without pushing others away, we can ensure Atiku’s victory without being on one another’s neck.

“We love PDP but on different occasions we worked against her greatness, if indeed we love PDP, we must allow bygone be what it is as we open a new chapter towards her triumph and success. May I also use this opportunity to appeal to all stakeholders in this party to engage in dialogue instead of washing our dirty linens in the public, let us jaw jaw and not war war. God bless PDP. God bless Ekiti State. God bless Nigeria”. The statement added.
