“Danger Now In Danger In Our Custody”-Ekiti CP, Ogundare

The new commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, Dare Ogundare has stated that the command under his watch would not allow criminals to turn the state into hideouts, saying all black spots in the state have been identified for adequate policing.

The CP made the declaration on Thursday during his visit to the state secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, where he sought the support and cooperation of the media towards ensuring the security of lives and property in the state.

He announced the arrest of a notorious kidnapper terrorizing Ekiti, Ondo and Kwara states, identified as danger saying, “notorious kidnapper terrorizing Ekiti, Ondo and Kwara states, identified as danger is now in danger in our custody

“Since my assumption of office, we have arrested a lot of criminals terrorising the people and have prosecuted many of them. A few days ago, we have gone to Kogi to arrest a notorious kidnapper, Danger, and he is now in our custody.

“We have ensures that all exit and entry routes in Ekiti are well policed and I have also directed more reinforcement and enough deployment to flashpoints. I am here to seek your understanding and support,” he said.

While reiterating the efforts of the Media, he commended the Union for their continued fair reportage of news about the Command, the CP promised to continue to collaborate with journalists and other stakeholders to ensure that Ekiti become a criminal-free state in due time.

In his words, “The purpose of my visit is to thank you for what you’ve been doing for the Nigeria Police in state by showcasing the achievements and other things you have been doing for us.

“I have never heard negative reports from the Press in Ekiti State. So, I want to thank you on behalf of the Nigeria Police for what you’ve been doing and to equally intimate you that we are here to partner with you in the area of security, we as an organisation can’t do it all alone.

“We need the stakeholders like the Press to at lease assist us in propagating our successes in the state.

“We have sent alot of people to court for prosecution, we are on it and we’ll continue to do so.”

CP Ogundare also called on members of the public to always volunteer information to the Police which would help lead to the arrest of the criminal elements in the society.

Earlier the Chairman, NUJ Ekiti State Council, Comrade Rotimi Ojomoyela expressed gratitude to the CP, adding that he is the first Commissioner of Police in the State to visit the Union.

Ojomoyela specifically charged the Command to checkmate some black spots in the state such as Atikan-kan, and other black spots in the state capital, Oke Ako, Irele, Ipao, Ikere-Ise road, among others.

He advocated the need for the police to embrace the community policing system and ensure people have trust in them in order to report suspicious activities in their communities.
