A Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon Sunday Ibitoye has carpeted Critics of the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji, over harsh comments on governance and scoring him low in performance in last three years.
Reports have it that some of the Critics claimed that the Governor has nothing to justify for the federal allocations acruing to Ekiti in the last three years, saying he has squandared the resources of Ekiti on white elephant projects.
Speaking with Heritage News in Ado-Ekiti, Ibitoye who is the current Chairman Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA) lambasted the Governor’s critics, stating that they are either blind or have chosen to stay in Lagos or outside the country to be criticising the Governor for fun.
According to him, “anyone who is not blind or have been coming to Ekiti state regularly in the three years or have stayed Ekiti state in the last three years would appreciate what the governor has been doing in term of infastructural development of Ekiti state and have performed excellenly well when you talk of fulfillment of the 7 points agenda of his administration”.
Ibitoye said,”My advice to you critics is that you should try and visit the state and see many developmental development that has been put in place Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s administration, you will see many road projects, that are ongoing and the ones that has been completed.
Ibitoye, who highlighted the governor’s remarkable strides in infrastructure, health, education, rural development, economic empowerments, security,among others, added that, “Governor Oyebanji has demonstrated exceptional dedication to the well-being of Ekiti people through his pragmatic policies and strategic initiatives”.
He explained that the Governor has just distributed 2 Billion naira gratuity cheques to state pensioners apart from the monthly release of Two Hundred and Fifty Million Naira (N250,000,000.00) for the payment of gratuity at both State and Local Governments.
Others are regular payment of monthly pension since inception of this administration totaling #25,967,151,534.89 as at September, 2025, payment of three(3) months arrears owed the pensioners in a sum of #1,140,943,594.38, payment of #7,600,000,000.00 gratuities to state pensioners as at September 2025; today’s disbursement of #2,000,000,000 brings it to #9,600,000,000.
While the local government had released #4,840,457,914.07 so far. In all , a total of #14,440,457,914.07 has been disbursed to pensioners in Ekiti state as at today.
“I can confidently say that Governor Oyebanji’s achievements speaks for themselves in all areas; Infrastructure, Education, Agriculture, Social and Human Capital Development amongst others, which has made Ekiti a cynosure of all eyes in the Committee of States in the Country just within the last three years of his administration. So I want to say that those people that are criticising his government or scoring him low in performance are either don’t know what they are saying or bind that can’t see anything.
“So, as far as I am concerned, I Hon Ibitoye I can confidently say that Governor Oyebanji has performed beyond reseanable doubt within the last three years and his excellence performance, marked by selfless service, genuine commitment, and unwavering dedication to the progress and prosperity of our people are the reasons he is due for second term in Ekiti and I therefore urge all our people to support him for the second and ensure his Landslide victory at gubernatorial election next year”. He added.
