The former deputy governor of Ekiti state, Prof. Modupe Adelabu has said that the affirmation of the incumbent Governor of Ekiti state, Mr Biodun Oyebanji as the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress(APC) for the forthcoming governorship election would swing more votes for the ruling party.
The former deputy governor stated this in her congratulatory message on the emergence of Governor Oyebanji as the party flagbearer.
She state further that the ruling party has yielded to the wishes of Ekiti people to allow the governor fly the flag of the party for another term. She described the governor as an excellent performer that has redefined governance and doing the party proud.
“The right thing has been done by handing the Governor the party ticket to run for another term through a consensus arrangement. I think this is first of its kind that all the party leaders and stakeholders that concerns would rally round a single candidate.
“I have no doubt within me that the affirmation of Governor Biodun Oyebanji will swing more votes for APC come 2026 governorship election because he is the people’s choice” Prof. Adelabu stated.
The erudite scholar saluted the national body of the party for conducting a peaceful consensus primary election which has furthered strengthen internal democracy within the party.
She called on other aspirants and their supporters to embrace the olive branch extended to them by the governor adding that there is no victor nor vanquished.
