“How Mr.President Saved Fubara’s Impeachment”-Wike

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has revealed how President Tinubu Saved Governor Governor Siminalayi Fubara, Deputy Governor Ngozi Odu from Impeachment in Rivers State.

Revealed that it was the declaration of emergency in that that the president used to saved the duos from the Impeachment which was eminent as at that time.

Wike who expressed displeasure a the presidential declaration of state of emergency, said Fubara would have been removed if President Tinubu had not come to save him with the emergency declaration.

Wike made this known during a media parley in Abuja, pointed out that the Rivers people ought to be worshipping President Tinubu for declaring state of emergency at that time in the state.

He said, “But as for me, I am not happy with the way President Tinubu Saved Fubara with the declaration of the state of emergency.

“As a politician, I am not happy with the declaration of Emergency Rule in Rivers state. I wanted the outright removal of the governor. But for the interest of the state, the president did the right thing to prevent anarchy in the state.”.

It could be e recalled that, President Bola Tinubu had last month proclaimed a state of emergency in the state, citing persistent political instability and escalating security concerns, including recent pipeline explosions.

Following this emergency proclamation in the state, the Governor, Deputy Governor, and all members of the House of Assembly were suspended for six months in view of what the President described as “inevitably compelling based on security reports”.

Consequently, Vice Admiral Ibas was appointed as sole administrator to oversee the state’s affairs pending resolution of the crisis, a decision that has sparked widespread debate, mix feelings and reactions across the country.

Wike argued that the political crisis, which has already led to the emergence of factional speakers and a parallel assembly in Rivers State, could have been avoided if certain truths were acknowledged. “

Wike and Fubara have been embroiled in a protracted feud that has strained their previously close relationship since Fubara became the Governor.

Specifically, The minister pointed out that the governor has made no effort to reach out or resolve their differences. “Has he ever called me as an elder to say what is the problem? Let us sit down and talk?” Wike asked. “If I am the cause of the problem… has anybody taken it upon himself or herself to say, ‘this is where we are?’”, Wike added.
