Police Parades Robbery Suspects, Rapists, Cultists, Others in Ekiti

Ekiti State police command have paraded 17 suspects over alleged crimes in the state at the command headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, and recovery of items.

They were paraded for various crimes ranging from Kidnapping, robbery, rape,
cultistism, among others.

The Commissioners of Police, Mr. Ogundare Dare, said the command has clamped down on suspects in connection with different reprehensive crimes

Parading the suspects, the Command PRO, DSP, Sunday Abutu said the command arrested two suspected robbers and recover two stolen motorcycles in collaboration with some community members in Oke-Ureje in Ado-Ekiti on April 4, at about 22:00houts arrested one Saliu Oyebamiji and Ajisefe Mayowa.

In another case Abutu said, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of he Command on 4/4/3/2023 at about 18:00hrs, arrested one Jimoh Gani for participating in the robbing and raping of a student of the University of Education, Ikere-Ekiti.

Investigation revealed that the victim boarded a vehicle from Ado-Ekiti to Oye-Ekiti but on their way to Oye-Ekiti, the driver changed route and took her to A.U.D Secondary School where she was gang raped by the suspect alongside two others who are currently at large and robbed of her Tecno phone valued sixty-five thousand naira and cash sum of sixteen thousand naira.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have committed the heinous crime alongside one Femi Ayobami and Alfa Kayode, all of Ado-Ekiti, who escaped the scene during arrest.

The PPRO also said the command RRS on April 6, through a bush combing operation arrested one Augustine Agboobo, Adeniyi Olamilekan, Williams Ukeuima Friday and Ademoh Gabriel, inside the forest close to Igede farm settlement.

“During interrogation, the suspects confessed to be members of a kidnapping syndicate who have engaged in series of kidnapping operations in Ekiti State including kidnapping of Ajibade Adeleke on 06/06/2022 at Igede farm other others where ransoms were collected”

Also paraded were couple, Bello Owolabi and his wife Jumoke for allegedly masterminding the recent cult clash between Eiye and Aiye confraternities in Ado Ekiti, the state capital.

According to reports, the husband who is a cultist popularity knowns as Awolu had beaten his wife and inflicted injuries on her but the elder brother of the wife who is also a member a rival cult group mobilized to attack the husband a situation that led to counter attack.

The command recovers various items like locally made single barrel gun, one dane gun, bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, among others, and called on all citizens to be security conscious, vigilant and report any untoward incident observed in their locality to the nearest police station.
