The Wife of Ekiti State Governor, Dr.Olayemi Oyebanji has commended Venite University, Iloro-Ekiti for partnering with the government in human capital development through the establishment of an academic institution committed to creativity, innovation and excellence.
Dr.Oyebanji gave the commendation at the university’s second matriculation ceremony held in the institution.
The First Lady,who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs.Olapeju Babafemi said the institution is a valuable partner in the state’s mission to transform education and develop human capacity.
She described the University as a visionary institution preparing students for labour market, leadership roles and entrepreneurship.
According to her, the vision of Venite University aligns with the policy direction of the Biodun Oyebanji Administration, whose education agenda focuses on equipping students with practical skills and application of technology to solve real-world challenges.
The governor’s wife urged the matriculating students to approach their academic journey with determination and clear sense of purpose. She described their admission into the institution as confirmation of their potential and the beginning of a transformative journey toward excellence.
“Dear matriculating students, your admission into this university is a testament to your potential and the seed of greatness in you. You are on a journey to success and excellence. It is not a walk in the park. You must set clear goals, study hard pand stay focused. Build meaningful relationships with fellow students, lecturers and mentors who can support your growth. Stay positive and determined, believe in yourself and never give up,” she charged.
Dr. Oyebanji equally appreciated the parents and guardians for entrusting their children to the care and training of Venite University.
She commended the University’s Founder, governing council and management for their visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to building an institution of global standards,noting that their efforts would not only benefit Ekiti State but also contribute significantly to national development.
Earlier, in his welcome address, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Kelvin Aduloju, stated that the university was established to produce knowledgeable, creative and industrious manpower for Nigeria and beyond.
He noted that the institution is focuses on research, development and global competitiveness.
Professor Aduloju highlighted the University’s core values: integrity, respect, excellence and inclusivity.
He urged all members of the academic community to uphold these values both academically and socially in order to become well-rounded individuals capable of driving societal change.
He encouraged students to see themselves as agents of transformation, pursuing their studies with discipline and sense of responsibility. “We aim to raise students who will not only excel academically but also make a positive impact on the world,” he stated.
The matriculation oath was administered on the matriculants by the University Registrar, Dr. Ezekiel Agbaje.
The matriculation ceremony, which was attended by parents, academic staff, government representatives, traditional rulers and stakeholders in the education sector marked another milestone in the history of the young but rapidly growing institution.
The high point of the event was the inspection of the university’s facilities.
