The popularity and winning chances of the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC, for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency, Prince Okunjimi Odimayo got boosted on Sunday, as scores of opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP members in Ilutitun, hometown of the incumbent and candidate of PDP, Hon. Ikenngboju Gboluga decamped and declared their total support for the APC candidate in the February 25, 2023 General Elections.
When receiving the former PDP members from the stronghold of Gboluga in Ilutitun, the director-general of Jimi Odimayo MHR’23 Campaign Council, Hon. Ola Oguntimehin urged the new members of APC not to relent on their efforts and conviction of better representation for the overall growth and benefits of the Constituency, and not as individual gains.
He assured them that it will never be a ‘business as usual’ affair with Prince Odimayo, sressing that the Irele born Prince has a good reputation and noble family background that has recorded great achievements in both human and community development.
“As we all know, Prince Jimi Odimayo is a well to do young businessman with a caring heart and large mind of doing good to people around him. He had always been a goal-getter and had always set higher standard of excellence for himself to achieve. He has always develop that leadership qualities that have endeared him to many people, even beyond this Constituency.
Today, Odimayo is the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives Candidate for Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency and he is not only the candidate to beat in the election but many also see him as the most resourceful, brilliant and someone who really possess the qualities to take the Federal Constituency to greater height at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly.
Leader of the PDP youth group in Ilutitun, popularly known as ‘Oba Jew’ who reacted on behalf of others, noted that the group took the move after it conviction to correct the misrepresentation of the incumbent MHR, which he has not done anything tangible for any individual or the community as a whole even as ‘son of the soil’.
“Our political father here, Hon. Oguntimehin knows our political weight in Ilutitun town, and we’re ready to deploy all our arsenal and political know-how to work for the victory of Omo’ba Jimi Odimayo in the coming election to the detriment of our brother Gboluga who has greatly disappointed all of us.
“We’re pledging our support and loyalty to the Odimayo project with open hearts and readiness to work for him and friend, Chris Ayebusuwa who is the State House of Assembly candidate for our constituency. Judging from your (Odimayo) anticidence, we hope you will never underrated this group contribution to your eventual victory at the February poll.
Another member of the group, Christopher Owowa, hailed the boldness and strong commitment of Prince Odimayo to the MHR project, stressing that the event leading to the group members decamping to join Odimayo and Ayebusuwa in APC was as a result of the goodwill and compassion of both men towards changing the old narratives in the constituency.
Responding, the MHR hopeful thanked the former PDP group for joining his team and Chris Ayebusuwa to actualise thier dreams of better representation for not only Ilutitun, but the whole Federal and State constituencies.
“As your representative comes June 2023, after you must have elected me through your votes on February 25, 2023, my aim is to promote and sponsor bills that will positively affect the lives of the Youths, Aged, Children, the Physically-challenged and Women in particular; and nobody will be left behind in this our journey to greatness and growth.”
According to him, he intends to support and influence positive legislation for the development of Okitipupa/Irele Federal Constituency in particular, and Ondo State and Nigeria in general, also to empower and give employment to a significant number of graduates and unemployed youths for them to have a new lease of life.
“Thu, I intend to engage in productive oversight functions and other activities that will bring succour, success and economic development to our people, and members of my team that you are today, I shall specially ensure that a sizable number of this group is empower significantly.” Odimayo stated.
