Local Govt Commission Fetes Staff Over Oyebanji’s Victory

 

It was victory dance Wednesday as the Ekiti State Local Government Commission hosted senior management staff of the commission and top officers across the 16 local governments and 19 local council development areas to a get-together to celebrate the victory of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress,  Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, in the June 18 election.

During campaigns leading to the June 18 election, local government staff had pitched their tents with Oyebanji’s continuity agenda, citing unprecedented gains in the last three and half years under the administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi that had given hope for career growth and welfare of workers.

Across the state, the local government workers campaigned vigorously to ensure Oyebanji’s victory, explaining that it is only Oyebanji that can ensure continuity of Fayemi’s favourable policies that will also guarantee the survival of their own gains and benefits.

At a get-together held at the NULGE Hall, Ado-Ekiti, and attended by all the Commissioners in the Commission, the Commission’s Chairman, Samuel Abejide, praised the staff for making a right choice to support Oyebanji and for posting results that reflected their efforts to ensure victory.

He also congratulated them for remaining steadfast to sustain the gains in the last three years to lift the local government service, including sustaining the promotion benefits that the staff enjoyed.

Abejide also praised Governor Fayemi for allowing free hands to run the administration of the commission,  stressing that the atmosphere of freedom and competence demonstrated by staff had greatly assisted the commission in attaining the heights so far achieved.

He particularly praised the staff for bringing their competences to bear in the running of the commission, stressing that the quality of the staff match those in other services anywhere.

Abejide promised the staff that all the promises made by Oyebanji during campaigns would be fulfilled in the course of running his government.

In his remarks, a Commissioner,
Barrister Dele Oloje, appreciated the leadership of NULGE for their support for Oyebanji.

He praised the staff for the competence always demonstrated while carrying out their responsibilities, recalling that it was during the 2019 promotion interview that he realized the high quality of staff in the service.

Another Commissioner,  Comrade Segun Onaade, also appreciated the boldness of NULGE leadership in coming out openly to support Oyebanji in appreciation of the contributions of Fayemi’s administration towards the development of local government service.

While Onaade enjoined the staff to support Oyebanji’s administration in delivering campaign promises to Ekiti people, another Commissioner, Comrade Bisi Dada, urged the workers to see themselves as part of the incoming administration, saying that whatever gains posted by Oyebanji’s administration would be a collective achievements of all.

The State President of NULGE, Comrade Babatunde Olatunde, thanked God for the success of Oyebanji at polls, explaining that local government workers’ umbrella union, NULGE,  resolved to support the governor-elect to sustain the continuity of opportunities and benefits being enjoyed by workers under Fayemi’s administration.

He assured that all outstanding issues concerning workers’ welfare will be resolved by the incoming administration. He appealed to the commission to continue to attend to the welfare needs of workers, even as he sought the Commission’s commitment to the implementation of the blueprint that the union presented to the governor-elect.
