A Chieftain of All Progressive Congress (APC) in Ekiti State and current Chairman Ekiti State Traffic Management Agency (EKSTMA), Hon Sunday Ibitoye, has congratulated the Governor of the State, Biodun Oyebanji for emerging as the party’s consensus candidate for the 2026 governorship election in the state.
Recall that APC on Monday, affirmed Oyebanji’s candidature as the consensus candidate of the party for the 2026 gubernatorial election in the State.
The motion was moved in Ado-Ekiti on Monday by the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and seconded by the Speaker of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Stephen Aribasoye, in line with Section 84(11) of the Electoral Act, 2022.
Ibitoye, a former Chairman of Ado Ekiti Local government who spoke with Heritage News in Ado Ekiti commended his administration for promoting good governance primarily anchored on transparency, inclusion and accountability, adding that his return as candidate placed the APC in a strong position ahead of 2026 election.
He described the consensus arrangement that produced Oyebanji as a milestone in the nation’s political evolution, while also lauding his sterling performance that prompts developmental strides across all sectors.

Ibitoye however predicted landslide victory for the Governor and APC in the 2026 governorship election in Ekiti State, adding that “The process through which our Governor, His Excellency, Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has emerged overwhelming through consensus with the supports of the majority shows your acceptability and the fact that you are indeed a popular candidate
