Women’s role in politics can not be underestimated nowadays, because their hospitality, liberality and sagacity are germane to ensuring progress and unity in any society.
Ekiti women have always been active in political circles in a bid to prove that gone are the days when they are relegated to back seats, with a misconception that they only belong to kitchen.

On every election days in Nigeria, and on any public political outings or gatherings, women are usually have the highest number of head count. In view of this, they are supposed to equally enjoy the lion share of the dividends of democracy.
Apparently, it was in recognition of the foregoing fact that the APC have been sensitive and wise enough to have captured Ikere Ekiti, second largest community in the state and Ekiti women with the choice of a one time women leader in Ekiti state as Deputy Governorhip candidate for the coming june 18, 2022 gubernatorial election in the state.

A Princess from Ikere Ekiti, Monisade Christian Afuye (MCA) has been paired with BIODUN ABAYOMI OYEBANJI, an home grown grassroots politician, teacher, seasoned administrator cum technocrat. Afuye, a highly influential woman was wisely chosen by APC as Deputy Governor for June 28, 2022 election.
This is the first time that Ikere Ekiti woman has been considered for the prestigious position in the history of Ekiti and it signals a great opportunity for the women in Ikere and Ekiti State as whole. It is a onerous opportunity for them to grasp and make the best use of it.

So, Ikere women, both young and old, and Ekiti women both young and old should take this election as very important to you all and vote enmass for APC, and its candidate, BAO and MCA so that the front seat that the women are currently occupying in Ekiti politics would not be taken away from them, and they will have bountiful access to dividends of democracy under the APC government.

Closely related to this is the Gender Bill for appointments into political offices mandating the Governor to appoint not less than 35% women into political offices in the state as part of the affirmative action on gender equality which was passed last week Thursday by the Ekiti state House of Assembly.
This means more women will benefit from appointments under an APC government. It is a win- win situation for Ekiti women. Please vote for BAO!
