Ekiti2022: We are United and Focused, Says SSG, CoS, Attorney General

Our attention has been drawn to a series of articles – figments of the imagination of faceless writers based on conjectures relating to the 2022 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State.

The writings are consistent with coordinated social media posts and media articles with the central theme being that 3 of us, individually, have ambitions to succeed our principal Dr. Kayode Fayemi, as Governor of Ekiti State in 2022. The narrative goes on to suggest that on account of this ambition, the relationship amongst us has been fractured, in such a way as to affect the business of good governance in the state.

First , we would like to state unequivocally that none of us, individually nor jointly, authorized anyone to champion such outlandish propaganda or campaigns aimed at sowing discord amongst us. We dissociate ourselves in entirety from such inanities.

Second, as seasoned professionals holding sensitive positions of trust in the Fayemi administration, we would not be distracted from the task of supporting our principal to deliver good governance to the people of Ekiti State.

Third, as disciplined leaders of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) who lead by example, our position is that any of our highly qualified members can have an ambition, but no well meaning party member would subscribe to heating up the polity prematurely.

We would like to assure Ekiti Kete, that we all remain focused on working with our other colleagues as a team, to implement the progressive programmes and policies of our leader and principal.
