The Ekiti State House of Assembly on Tuesday, received and read a list of nominees for ratification of their appointment as Commissioners and Special Advisers in the State Executive Council.
Some of the nominees are Rt.Hon. Dapo Karounwi, Rt.Hon. Taiwo Olatunbosun, Chief Folorunsho Olabode, Chief Mrs Tosin Aluko, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, Prof. Ojo Bakare, Prof. Patrick Tedela and the immediate former head of service, Mrs. Peju Babafemi amongst others.
The Speaker, Rt.Hon. Adeoye Aribasoye during plenary, read the names from a letter sent to the House by Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, requesting the lawmakers for their parliamentary approval in accordance with Sections 192 and 196 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 as amended, to expand the executive council to assist in service delivery.
The Speaker on behalf of his colleagues, while giving the assurances of performing their legislative assignment diligently, however, committed the list to the House Committee on Rules and Business, headed by the Majority Leader, Hon. Tolu Ige.
The Commissioner nominees were requested to submit 30 copies of their curriculum vitae on or before 30th of June.
Meanwhile, the House in its plenary, debated the Ekiti State Sport Commission Bill, 2023. The bill seeks to establish the commission that will handle sporting activities in the state and improve physical and mental health of the citizens
The bill was committed to the Committee on Youth and Sportst Development for further legislative scrutiny.
Also, Ekiti State Electric Power Sector Bill, 2023 passed through the first reading at the plenary.
