Ekiti 2022: Senator Bamidele Withdraws Court Action Against Party

Heritagenewsng.com reports that one of the aggrieved governorship aspirants of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti state and the current Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Michael Opeyemi Bamidele has dropped the option of taking the party to court over the recent governorship primary election in Ekiti state.

Senator Opeyemi Bamidele made this known in a short statement personally signed by him which was obtained by our correspondent online this afternoon.

According to the signed statement, Senator Bamidele said there is need for him to break his temporary silence and make his final stand on the crisis emanating from the conduct of the governorship primary election in Ekiti state.

He stated further in the statement that the reasons why he chose to drop the option of taking the party to court over the recent primaries is for the unity and progress of Ekiti state and her politically undermined and economically afflicted people.

He added that it is also about ensuring that the ground is not prepared for reactionary beneficiaries to take advantage of seeming lack of capacity of the ruling party to manage its affairs.

Part of the statement reads;

“Yet, in spite of my strong conditions as expressed above, I have come to some irreversible conclusions and these are the messages I need to pass on to all and sundry today as I temporarily break my silence on the way forward. One is to say that I have chosen to drop the option of going to Court to sue the party. The other is to make it crystal clear to everyone that both my supporters and I will not defect from APC”

He furthered in his statement to give the people of Ekiti state and Nigerians more details which informed his stand to drop the option of taking the party to court in later elaborate press conference in a date to be announced later.

“Details of the reasons which informed these choices will be communicated at a later date when my supporters and I address Ekiti people and Nigerians at large. It is about the unity and progress of Ekiti State and her politically undermined and economically afflicted people”

He furthered that, “it is also about ensuring that the ground is not prepared for reactionary beneficiaries to take advantage of seeming lack of capacity to manage our affairs as a ruling party in the state”

The governorship aspirant stated further that part of the reasons of dropping the option of litigation against the party is to, “Ensure that my supporters and stakeholders who had been isolated from the mainstream of the party becomes relevant again”

He however expressed his displeasure over the party primaries which he described as a charade.

Recall that, the Senator and six other aspirants had some days ago rejected the result of the primaries which produced Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji as the winner and candidate of the party and vowed to challenge it in court.
