Christ School Ado Ekiti Receives 1.5 Million Naira Worth Of Laboratory Equipments From 82-87 Set

Christ School Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State received in audience, the 1982-87 set of the school on Wednesday, led by its Alumni President Professor Folarin Oguntoyinbo who donated laboratory equipments worth 1.5 million naira as well as branded Jerseys worth over 200 thousand naira to the school basketball team who were recently crowned champions in Ekiti State.

The event took place at the Principal’s office in Christ school on Wednesday 17th of April 2024 around 9:00 am

While presenting the equipments to the school Principal Chief Atoba Tope Peter, who has in attendance the Vice principal Mr.Olatunde Akinyemi, the HOD Mrs Yemi Akinwande and representative of the students, the President of the Alumni, Professor Folarin Oguntoyinbo said the donation is a way of giving back to the Institution that contributed to their success in life.

Professor Folarin recounted the achievements of his administration as well as the contributions of the 82-87 to ensure Christ school maintains it’s number one position in the state and the country at large.

He declares that the set has had two reunions and in the process gave scholarships to brilliant and exceptional students by paying for their WAEC and NECO and by extension gave out appreciation tokens to the teachers for contributing their own quota to the success of Education in the school.

He also took time to extols the brilliance of one of the alumni Dipo Popoola who has successfully developed a software Document management system in Arkansas.

” We have one of our very own, Dipo Popoola in Arkansas who developed a software which can manage the documentation, collation of results and proper dissemination of information. We have rewarded Teachers as well because the school is not about students alone. The 82-87 set are very passionate about the growth of the school and that is why we came to support the school with these laboratories equipments.”

Professor Folarin Oguntoyinbo thanked members of the set and the executives for their unflinching support towards his administration which he said has been nothing but full of success stories.

Responding, the visibly elated Principal of the school, Chief Atoba Tope Peter thanked the President as well as the other members of the 82-87 for not forgetting their alma mata and for remaining as good ambassadors of the school.


Chief Toba who was full of praises to God for blessing Christ school with students with Sterling qualities promised that the equipments will be used judiciously.

” I am assuring you that these equipments will be put to use to further strengthen and broaden the knowledge of the students in their chosen careers.

I will call on the Commissioner for Education Mrs Aderiye, the Permanent Secretary Mr. Mike Omotayo to provide us with Teachers if we don’t have one who can efficiently handle these equipments to the advantage of our students. ”

” This is very commendable and I can assure that this land mark achievements will encourage students to perform academically and whilst I will remain committed to ensure these equipments are put to use immediately”.

The Vice President of the Set Comrade Sola Adigun who earlier introduced other members of the executives announced that the Set have also provided branded Jerseys to the Basketball team of the school which will be representing the state at the National level following her victory at the just concluded Milo competition at the state level.

” When we learnt that Christ School Basketball team emerged victorious as the best team in the state and that they will be representing the state at the National level, we took it upon ourselves to get branded Jerseys worth 200 thousand naira which we are a presenting to the school.

This will no doubt put us out as the best that we have always been and for easy identification” he concluded.

The Vice principal of the school Mr.Olatunde Akinyemi and the school HOD Mrs Yemi Akinwande also took turns to appreciate the set for extending the hand of generosity to the school while maintaining that the gesture came at the right time.

Also Speaking on behalf of the students, Alabi Oluwatobiloba thanked the President and members of the 82-87 set for the equipments. He said the students can equally look up to their Older colleagues as mentors both academically and morally.

“we thank our Daddies and mummies who deem it fit to remember this school for good by donating this Million Naira equipments to our school and I am sure we will take advantage of these equipments to do well academically” he concluded.

Some of the items include: 1gas cylinder, Bakers of different sizes, Test tubes, Hand lenses,20 Tripods stands,Formalin, Scientific Charts, Digital balance and many others.

Members of the 82-87 executives include; Oluyemi Temitope Secretary Home Region, Honorable Toyin Omotoso Pioneer Treasurer of the set and Education Secretary Ado Ekiti local Government, and the welfare officer Mr. Akinyemi.

Others are Chairman of all the region sets Pastor Odeleye Idowu popularly known as Vocabulary, Comrade Sola Adigun vice president and Professor Folarin Oguntoyinbo President of the 82-87 world wide.
