APGA, PDP Candidates, Disqualified By INEC from Anambra Governorship Election

Heritagenewsng reports In a release by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Friday, July 16, 2021, six candidates scaled through to contest in the forthcoming Anambra Gubernatorial election.

This saw the exclusion of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Valentine Ozigbo, and also the candidate of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA), Professor Chukwuma Soludo, for the November 6, 2021 Anambra Gubernatorial Poll.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) noted that they did this exclusion in line with court order.

Barrister Festus Okoye, INEC National Commissioner for Publicity and Information, said that the Electoral Body met on Thursday, July 15, 2021 to verify the personal documents of nominated candidates from various political parties, and haven screened them, six of these candidates scaled through.

Though there have been discontentments from some quarters concerning this new development but, the candidates of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) are yet to speak concerning it as at the time of this reporting.
