By Gbenga Sodeinde
The Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, HRM, Oba Adebanji Ajibade Alabi, AFUNTADE 1, has cautioned politicians throughout the country and across all the political political parties against resorting to defaming and blackmailing notable politicians who might want to aspire to any political office including that of the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Oba Alabi made the appeal in Ilawe Ekiti on the heels of a statement credited to the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Kayode Fayemi on 6th January 2022 that some faceless people were plotting to demarket the Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi from the political arena through series of unsubstantiated publications.
The Alawe noted that though Governor Fayemi has not given any indication of contesting for any position after his current term of office as the Governor of Ekiti , the monarch stated that Governor Fayemi is well qualified for the highest political office in the country,
” Dr.Fayemi is not only a two- time Governor of Ekiti state, he is the Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum whose performance has been described by his colleagues as excellent and as a Nigerian, he is free to contest for the highest political position in the country” Oba Alabi noted.
The Alawe who is the immediate past Chairman of Ekiti State Council of Traditional Rulers, described the Ekiti state governor as a quintessential politician of note who will enjoy the support of Nigerians any time he gives the indication of contesting for a higher position.
Moreover, Governor Fayemi has the constitutional rights to vie for the highest position in the country. He therefore advised politicians to stop using faceless people to blackmail each other .
