Ekiti based Sports promoting company being the organizer of the Ekiti Sports Press Awards (ESPA) which debuted on January 4 this year says the second edition shall go beyond sports journalists as it has now been rechristened Ekiti Sports Press and Personalities Awards (ESPPA)
Ceo, The Gogetter Multi Links, Qozeem Oladapo, who is the brain behind the awards said the second edition hopes to also reward excellence in performances by sports personalities including athletes, coaches, administrators and philanthropists.
Oladapo who is also the chairman, Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Ekiti State chapter says the gesture is aimed at expanding the scope of the initiative to involve more people who have done their best to project the name of Ekiti state within the Sports Circle.
As the World recently commemorated the International Day for Persons Living with Disabilites, De Gogetter as he’s popularly known said those who fall in that category would also be considered for awards following their exploits in sports in 2021.
The Ekiti based Sports journalist assured that transparency that made the first edition which was for only Sports journalists widely acceptable and commendable would be the watchword before and during the second edition with the official launch of www.goalgetters.com.ng website where nominations and voting would be done soon.
He said three categories of awards and recognitions would be up for the second edition of the ESPPA including EKITI SPORTS PRESS CATEGORY, EKITI SPORTS PERSONALITIES CATEGORY, and SPECIAL RECOGNITION CATEGORY.
The organizers however said efforts were being intensified to secure sponsorship for the annual event urging corporate bodies and philanthropists to support the next edition of the program which will hopefully be held early 2022.
They promised that the Ekiti Sports Press and Personalities (ESPPA) would be more glamorous and colorful as it hopes to be an avenue to reward excellence in various categories and among different classes of sports stakeholders in Ekiti without exempting those in diaspora and those who have passed on.
