BREAKING! Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger Republic Have Officially Withdrawn From ECOWAS, Tinubu Sends Warning
The three West African countries have created their own security partnership known as the “Alliance of Sahel States”, thereby cutting off their military ties with Western partners such as U.S. and France, and now turned to Russia for military support.
According to analysts, this is an unprecedented blow to ECOWAS which has been working so hard to eliminate military coup in West Africa and return countries to democracy.
President Bola Tinubu, the chairman of the Economic Community Of West African States(ECOWAS) had earlier warned that he will not tolerate military coups anywhere in Africa.
“We must stand firm on democracy. There is no governance, freedom and rule of law without democracy. We will not accept coup after coup in West Africa again,” Tinubu said.
