Legislating in a Troubled Time.

I had the privilege of facilitating a session at the just concluded retreat for the Ekiti State House of Assembly members where the above topic was subjected to both theoretical and empirical interrogation.

Amidst protests against a variety of concerns, including hunger, extreme poverty, slave wage, unemployment, and severe inflation, there has been a growing interest in the role of lawmakers.

Today, lawmakers seem to be having difficulty meeting the ever-increasing expectations of the public (and this is a global issue).

Indeed, empirical evidence indicates that citizens primarily hold legislators accountable for the services they provide outside of parliament, rather than for their capacity to enact laws or supervise the Executive.
