A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos has granted permission to Ayodele Fayose, a  former governor of Ekiti State, who is standing trial over allegation of N6.9 billion, to seek medical treatment outside the country.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) showed no objection to the court permission.

The former governor is standing trial before the court on 11- count charge relating to theft and money laundering to the tune of N6.9billion.

The 12th prosecution witness, a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, finalized his testimony in the case during  the proceeding held on Tuesday, June 7.

The witness, who  gave evidence on January 31, responded to questions as he was being cross examined by the defence counsel, Olalekan Ojo.

Obanikoro restated the role played by one of his assistants, Justin Erukaa, (now late).

Earlier in his testimony before the court, Sen. Obanikoro had explained that he sent Erukaa on errands, to collect over $1million among others, while the deceased came to meet him in Ekiti.

Already, the court had admitted in evidence the statement made by the late Erukaa before his death.

It was revealed that the monies in contention allegedly came in through the Office of the former National Security Adviser (ONSA), Sambo Dasuki which was meant for prosecuting the Ekiti State Governorship Elections in 2014.

Obanikoro had also stated in his testimony that he was not involved in any discussion that took place between the former governor Ayo Fayose and the former NSA, Dasuki.
