The BAO’s Ambassador, Alhaji Dauda Lawal has sent his heartfelt commiseration to the people and government of Ekiti State over the death of the speaker of the state’s House of Assembly, Right Honourable Funminiyi Afuye.

Afuye, 66 died on Wednesday at the Ekiti State Teaching Hospital where he was receiving treatment for cardiac arrest.

In his condolence message made available to the press, Lawal who was one of the grassroot mobilizers for the election of Mr Biodun Oyebanji, the new governor of the state, described the death as a serious gap and a big vacuum that would be very difficult to fill at the present Ekiti State political dispensation.

“Still relatively in shock and devastated by the sudden demise of Rt. Hon. Speaker Bar. Funminiyi Afuye. If I had not seen him on Tuesday at the Governor’s Office and Isan Ekiti last Saturday, I would have been thinking otherwise.

This is a serious gap and a big vacuum that will be very difficult to fill at this time in our state. RT. Hon. Afuye was one of the political elites whose experience and deep knowledge of governance would have been helpful in this new administration.

I, therefore, join many friends of this administration to sympathize with you and the people of Ekiti State during this sobering period”, he mourned.
