The Committee on Works and Transportation at the Ekiti State House of Assembly has described the state Cargo Airport as a legacy project that would showcase the state to the world.
The Chairman of the Committee, Rt.Hon Hakeem Jamiu stated this when he led other members of the committee on an inspection tour of the project site in Ado Ekiti.
The Committee observed that the Airport runway was ready while the Terminal Building construction and aprons were going on at a fast pace.
Rt Hon Jamiu, who is also the Deputy Speaker of the House, expressed optimism that the project will be ready soon.
He likened the construction of the project by the Dr Kayode Fayemi administration as another eight wonders of the world, despite the economic situations of the state and the country and expressed the Assembly satisfaction over the quality of work done at the site, particularly the runway, the terminal building, the entrance road leading to the terminal and the cargo apron.
The Committee reiterated the Assembly support towards ensuring that the project was completed on time and stressed that it’s multiplier effect on Ekiti economy will begin to show when fully operational.
The Project Coordinator, Chief Bunmi Awotiku said that the Ekiti cargo airport would compete with any airport in the world.
He expressed joy on the level of work done so far and assured that the runway is ready for aircraft landing.
Chief Awotiku also assured Ekiti people of quality delivery, as there are complement of engineers from the Federal Ministry of Works and others who are supervising the project.
Other members of the committee at the inspection tour included the Leader of Business in the House, Hon. Gboyega Aribisogan and Hon. Reuben Awoyemi.
