At 10 years of age, most kids spend their leisure time playing in the field, watching TV, or playing video games.
This Nigerian-British child is different. Esther Okade was born In Midsall UK, to Nigerian parents she loves Math like kids love candy.
She fancies crunching numbers in her free time more than anything else. Esther is a specially gifted child, her ability to take on the most advanced mathematical problems has brought her to the limelight.
At only 6 years, Esther Okade was doing her GCSE examinations which are normally done by British teenagers around the age of 14-16 years. She did this at Ounsdale High school, Wolverhampton, and got an impressive ‘C’ grade.
Not impressed by the outcome, Esther sat for the exam again at age 7 getting a jaw-dropping ‘A-‘. A seven-year-old child doing a test meant for teenagers and acing it!
Her love for numbers coupled up with her genius brilliance pushed her to enroll in university at only 10 years. Esther Okade joined Open University, a distance learning university where she scored straight (A’s) in her first examination.
Esther’s parents Omonefe Okade and father Paul Okade noticed her uniqueness at an early age. Her mother Omonefe who is also brilliant with numbers and a mathematician homeschooled Esther. The little genius did not stop at learning basic number skills when her mother first taught her.
She progressed to Algebra and quadratic equations. The latter is a headache to most teenagers from age 15 in high school. Esther was barely five years when she grasped these concepts. She has a children’s math book to help share her skill and love for math with other children. Esther’s dream is to open a bank when she grows up. Speaking to CNN in an interview, she said:
“I want to (finish the course) in two years. Then I’m going to do my Ph.D. in financial months when I’m 13. I want to have my own bank by the time I’m 15 because I like numbers and I like people and banking is a great way to help people.”
