Nollywood actor, Yomi Fash-Lanso, has shared a striking childhood experience involving his father and a controversial demand made by a pastor during a church service.

The actor recounted the incident while expressing concern over how some self-acclaimed men of God allegedly exploit their followers under the guise of spirituality.
According to him, the event occurred during a prophetic service shortly after his father purchased a new car.

“When I was a kid, my dad bought a new car and drove us to church one Sunday. It was a prophetic service, and our pastor was ministering about deliverance from poverty,” he said.

Fash-Lanso explained that in the course of the service, the pastor singled out his father, identified as Mr. Alamu, and declared that God was set to bless him. The declaration was met with excitement from his mother and other congregants.

He added that after praying for his father, the pastor suddenly claimed to have received a divine instruction, asking his father to “sow” his car key as a seed.

“In response, my dad calmly brought out the car key and handed it over without any argument,” the actor narrated.

However, moments later, his father quietly left the church premises without waiting for the end of the service, leaving the young Fash-Lanso confused and concerned.

“To my surprise, he returned shortly after with the spare key, drove the car home, and came back,” he said.

When questioned about his actions, his father reportedly gave a simple but thought-provoking response: “Always use your brain. The pastor asked for the key, not the car.”

Fash-Lanso concluded by appreciating his father for instilling wisdom in him, using the story to highlight the importance of discernment in matters of faith.

The actor’s revelation has since sparked conversations on social media about critical thinking, personal conviction, and the conduct of some religious leaders.
