When I Shared My Insights On Photography With Mass Com Students of BOUESTI – Olabode Wilson
On January 19th, 2023, I had the honor of acting as a guest coach of photojournalism for the Mass Communication class at Bamidele Olumilua University in Ikere Ekiti.
My name is Olabode Wilson, and during the session, I shared my insights on photography with the students.
As we discussed the art of photography, I emphasized the importance of self-reliance for aspiring photographers, especially during their time as students and beyond graduation. To further guide the students, we explored various fields they could specialize in, as well as potential locations for their SIWES internships.
During the session, I had the pleasure of reviewing the students’ photo documentary presentations and providing constructive feedback. To quote Ansel Adams, “You don’t make a photograph just with a camera.
“You bring to the act of photography all the pictures you have seen, the books you have read, the music you have heard, the people you have loved.” With that in mind, I encouraged the students to not only hone their technical skills but also to expand their horizons by immersing themselves in art, literature and human experiences.
As Dorothea Lange once said, “Photography takes an instant out of time, altering life by holding it still.”
Through photography, the students have the power to capture and preserve the fleeting moments that make life beautiful, and I am excited to see what they will create in the future.
Adeyinka Olanipekun I really must thank and appreciate you for the opportunity also to the coordinator Mrs. Olusola Nike and to the students see you at the Top.
