Whaoooo! IKERE EKITI GETS MILITARY BATTALION UNIT

Greetings.

A battalion is a military unit, typically consisting of up to *one thousand soldiers*; commanded by a *Lieutenant Colonel* and subdivided into several *Companies of Army*, each typically commanded by a *Major* or a *Captain*. The typical battalion is built from three Operational companies of Army, one Weapons company of Army and one Headquarters company of Army.

A battalion plays host to Military Schools (Command Primary and Secondary Schools), Military Hospital, Military Training Institute, Military Mami Market, Military Officers’ Mess, Military Barrack etc

*Dear Omiyes, this is to inform you that the Nigerian Army Headquarters have approved the establishment of a Military Battalion Unit in Ikere, Ekiti State. This Military Battalion is proposed to be located along Ise road, Ikere, Ekiti State.*

Who dares, wins; who sweats, wins and who plans, wins, they say. Historically, our cradle Ikere is known to be the home of the brave which is depicted in our anthem: *…Ìkẹ́rẹ́ Òyè Ajólagun, kì í foríbalẹ̀ f’álágbára.* The brave die never, though they sleep sometimes, but their courage nerves a thousand living men.

Some years ago, our proposed *Command Secondary School (may the soul of Late General Adedapo Adebayo continue to rest in peace)* was taken away by sworn Ikere enemies, but God Almighty has replaced it for us today with a bigger Military establishment. This establishment, has re-affirmed our cradle as *Ìkẹ́rẹ́ Aríremákọ̀*.

*Appreciation to our beloved son, Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, COAS of Nigeria. True patriotism is not cheap, they say. Ikere is proud of you. God Almighty will continue to protect, guide and direct you. O kun ò, Ọmọ Àbá M.O lúlé Ọlọ́tín Ùgèlè Ìkẹ́rẹ́*
