Ekiti State Association of Trade Union Veterans has said that the emergence of an home based Governor like His Excellency, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji has engendered a renewed hope for the people of Ekiti state.
This statement was contained as part of a communique released by the union at the end of its General meeting for year 2022 on Tuesday at the NLC secretariat, Ado-Ekiti.
The union in its communique congratulated the Governor for his victory at the election and added that the peaceful conduct of the election was commendable.
The Association appreciated the Governor for setting up a Committee to look into the outstanding indebtedness to pensioners in the state. It called on the state government to put strategies in place to revive, sustain and instill Ekiti values in the youths and citizenry in general.
The union in its communique urged the state government to lay a strong emphasis on skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development in education and curriculum development in the state.
The communique also stated that the state government should put on strategies for establishing and financing agro-based small/medium scale industries and commercial business enterprises in the state. It stated that the peaceful industrial harmony in the State was commendable and that the labour leaders should remain focus and maintain the peaceful relationship that exists between them and the government.
Other matters contained in the communique included, the need for the association to look into the NHIS scheme to provide for health needs of members. The need for members to exercise their voting rights and ensure a peaceful/lawful conduct in the forthcoming general election.
Finally the communique stated that retirees should endeavor to interact, socialize and participate actively in community activities to reinvigorate body and soul.
