The Chairman of the Ekiti State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Hon. Babatunde Abegunde has advised proprietors of private schools in the State to upgrade facilities in their schools so that they do not lack too far behind their public school counterparts that had witnessed massive turnaround since the commencement of the ongoing education reforms of the Fayemi led administration.
Hon. Abegunde who gave the advice at Ijan Ekiti while receiving an award of excellence for meritorious service from the Gboyin Local Government Chapter of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), stressed that the free education policy of the State Government coupled with the enormous overhauling of facilities in the schools and establishment of model colleges amongst others has made public schools more attractive.
He assured that the State Government would however be relentless in
efforts at providing an enabling environment for private schools to thrive, adding that the State Government would continue to encourage investors to invest in the State.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Gbonyin Local Government Area (LGA) and Ayekire Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chapter of NAPPS, Mr. Kolade Olorunfemi noted that Hon. Abegunde was once the State Chairman and an active leader of the association.
Mr. Olorunfemi who commended the TESCOM Chairman for being a worthy ambassador of NAPPS, said he deserved the honour.
He promised that the association would continue to support the efforts of the State Government to improve the education sector.
