By Gbenga Sodeinde

A Human Rights Activists and National Executive Council Member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) representing Ado Ekiti branch, Olakami Samuel Falade Esq has called on the National Assembly to stop Electricity Distribution companies, otherwise known as DISCO from estimated billing systems to the consumers in Nigeria.

Falade who condenned what he described as unholy activities of the Electricity Distribution companies, otherwise known as DISCO, especially the Benin Electricity Distribution Company, operating BEDC, in Ekiti state, said they have made things unbearable for the people with their ‘crazy estimated billing’.

Estimated billing is simply a billing system where various electricity distribution companies (Discos) sit in the comfort zones of their offices and decide what a household or a business organisation consumes of electricity in a month without using any verifiable and known yardstick.

Apparently disturbed by this situation, Falade called on the lawmakers to make sure they do everything within their powers to stop DISCOS from the estimated billing at all cost, and to also impose it on them to make pre-paid meters available for the use of all consumers in the country.

Falade in an interview with the heritagenewsng, said he was highly disturbed by the situation because it has caused alot of crisis in many parts of the country, ” please just follow this Facebook link as it explained it all :https://www.facebook.com/tony.nwajei/videos/3051332791773353/

You will see how embarrassing,  and worrisome the situation has turned to.

The lawyer,  urged the legislators to as a matter of urgency and public interest, stop BEDC and all other DISCOs from killing innocent consumers with crazy bills and estimated Billings system, by ensuring every consumer has a Pre-Paid Meters, adding that “we are ready to pay for what we consume genuinely

Falade added.
