SMART SCHOOL PROJECT: Korean Experts Arrive Ekiti For Installation Of ICT Facilities

 

A team of experts from the Korea International Cooperation Agency
(KOICA ) alongside officials from Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) have arrived Ekiti State for assessment tour preparatory for installation of ,state-of the-art Informatiom Communication Technology (ICT) equipment at the recently commissioned Smart School, within the Knowledge Zone, Ijan-Ekiti .

Receiving the team led by Prof Dae Joon
Hwang of the Ubion-KOICA consortium at the Akure Airport , the Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board(SUBEB) , Prof Femi Akinwumi disclosed that the smart school within the Knowledge Zone at Ijan is expected to increase the capacity of teachers in the state in the development and use of ICT content and to improve the access of teachers and pupils to quality teaching and learning materials.

He stressed that smart school at Ijan would among things be equipped with sophisticated recording and broadcasting equipment and facilities for content development with particular reference to Mathematics, Sciences and capacity building for teachers and education managers in the use
of new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) and the Blended Learning methodology.

Recall that a few weeks ago, the Executive Chairman of Ekiti SUBEB , Prof Femi Akinwumi had recently visited South Korea alongside other Nigerian high-level officials on the Invitation of the Korean Government all on the smart school project.

The smart school initiative is ICT driven and based on current digital technology.
