There would have been no democratic local government election in Katsina State under Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari’s led administration for eight years from 2015 – 2023, if not for Senator Babba Kaita’s structurized yearnings for it. The cluster paths with Commoners prone to good Governance and aspirations of the people.
Recall, Masari a former Speaker of House of Representatives and self acclaimed true democrat promised to conduct local government election in Katsina State during electioneering campaign against his arch rival Musa Nashuni of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2015.
Thinking of the negative effects on APC in the State in future elections and what the dent will cause to the image of Governor Masari after leaving office, Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita firmly agitated for local government election, leading to realization under Governor Masari’s led administration after his 7years reign in office unlike his democratic elected predecessors, duo of Ibrahim Sheu Shema and late Umaru Musa Yar’dua ruling for eight years respectively running a functional and structurized local government system giving rise to Commoners inclusiveness in Governance.
Sincerity of purpose admits path walk with Commoners in Governance made Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita, representing Katsina North senatorial district speak the truth in power to Governor Masari about the need for democratic elected local government officials which is the best to appointed ones.
With the latest Development by Katsina State Electoral Commision to conduct local government election April 11, 2022, Senator Babba Kaita has been described by notable people of the State as lover of democracy giving him edge to succeed Governor Masari with sustainable development come 2023. All sorts of names like: Bridge Builder, Hope of Common Man amongst others has been given to him with loud ovation by the masses.
