The former Governor of Ekiti state and Governorship Candidate of The Social Democratic Party, (SDP) during the 2022 gubernatorial election in the state, Engr Segun Oni, has prayed for the success of incumbent Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji.
Recall that former governor, who was All Progressives Congress, (APC) chieftain, who he left the party for PDP and from PDP to SDP where he contested the Governorship election against Oyebanji.
Oni lost the election to Oyebanji and he went to court where he lost in both the lower court, and Appeal Courts.
The weekend was the first meeting of both Oni and Oyebanji in Ado Ekiti at the retired Bishop of Akure Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev’d Michael Ipinmoye’s 80th birthday thanksgiving service.
In his goodwill message, Engr Oni congratulated the celebrant for witnessing his 80th birthday, however appreciated Governor Oyebanji, whom he also described as a brother.
In apparent reference to his case against the election of Governor Oyebanji, Engr Oni said political contest is a normal thing in democracy just as seeking the intervention of the judiciary in determining knotty issues.
He prayed for God’s continued support to enable the Governor achieve a successful tenure.
The ceremony witnessed other Governors like, Rotimi Akeredolu (SAN), former Governor Rahman Mimiko of Ondo State, ex-Governor Segun Oni and Minister of State for Transportation, Prince Ademola Adegoroye, who all hailed the celebrant at the well-attended service.
