The Running Mate to Mr Biodun Oyebanji, the All Progressives Congress Governorship candidate in the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti State, Chief (Mrs) Monisade Afuye, has expressed gratitude to the leadership of the APC in Ekiti state, led by Governor Fayemi for finding her worthy of the nomination to the exalted position of the Running Mate of the governorship candidate of the party.
Mrs Afuye, who hails from Ikere-Ekiti in the Ekiti South Senatorial District thanked APC leaders and members of the party for the honour done her and the confidence that the leaders reposed in her.
In a statement issued by her at her home in Ikere-Ekiti, which was made available to pressmen, the former APC Woman leader in Ekiti State described her appointment as a demonstration of the penchant of the APC for gender balance and equity in the distribution of political positions among the three senatorial districts of the state.
Mrs Afuye said the APC administration in the state has performed creditably well by fulfilling largely its electoral promises to the people of the state as the Midas touch of the Fayemi administration were visible all over Ekiti State.
She was also full of praises for the governorship candidate of APC in Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji (BAO), who also found her worthy of the nomination, as she promised to be loyal to him and the leaders of the party at all times.
The Running Mate of Mr Oyebanji also thanked APC members, who in their large numbers have sent congratulatory messages, visited her and congratulated her on her nomination in different forums, including the Social Media. According to her, she is convinced that their gesture demonstrates massive support for the governorship ambition of Mr Oyebanji.
Chief (Mrs) Afuye, who is also the Yeye Okinlua, the head of the Princesses in Ikere-Ekiti, assured her party members and the whole of Ekiti people that Oyebanji and herself would not let them down if they were finally elected.
She also thanked the people of Ikere-Ekiti for their massive support and goodwill to her as she is related to all the quarters in the town from where her nomination has received a lot of support, just as she called for unity of purpose among the people, with the sole aim of developing the town.
The former APC Woman leader also expressed immense gratitude to the wife of the Ekiti State Governor, Mother-General Erelu Bisi Fayemi, for her support for her when she was the Ekiti State APC Woman leader and for her nomination as the Running Mate of Mr Oyebanji.
Mrs Afuye promised to continuously be close to Erelu Fayemi to benefit maximally from her wealth of experience which has reached international dimension.
