Heritagenewsng.com reports that the Governor of Ekiti State through his Chief-Press-Secretary, Mr Yinka Oyebode has reacted to the allegations by the immediate past Chairman of Ado-Ekiti LG, Hon(Mrs) Motunde Fajuyi over misappropriation of the council fund.
The CPS in a release signed by him which was obtained by our correspondent online described Mrs Fajuyi’s allegations as misrepresentation of facts and mischievous.
Refuting the allegations made by the former council boss that she signed for N100 million allocation monthly only to be given a paltry N7 million naira to run the council, Oyebode described it as miscellaneous and misrrsentation of fact.
“The attention of the general public is hereby drawn to a misleading news story in circulation and credited to the immediate past Chairman of Ado local Government Council, Mrs Omotunde Fajuyi, where she was reported to have alleged that she signed for N100 million allocation monthly, while she held sway as council boss, only to be given a paltry N7 million to run the council”
The statement further reads, “While it serves no purpose joining issues with Mrs Fajuyi, it is important to state that either Mrs Fajuyi or the news media that reproduced her radio interview mispresented the facts of the matter, hence, the need to put the record straight for the sake of the reading public and to correct the wrong impression created”
He further clarified that the monthly allocation from the Federation Account Allocation Committee(FAAC) to the local government are determined by the Joint Account Allocation Committee(JAAC) at the state level in line with the provision of the law.
The CPS furthered in his release that the Governor has never meddled in the JAAC affairs nor superinted over any of its meetings.
“It is on record that the Governor Kayode Fayemi has never meddled in the JAAC affairs nor superinted over any of its meetings”
The government however called on serving and former public office holders to always demonstrate high sense of responsibility in their daily conduct and public engagements, be as truthful as possible, avoid mischief and unwarranted mudslinging as demonstrated by the former council boss, Mrs Fajuyi.
It also called on the news media to always do a critical findings before dishing out any information and shun unprofessional sensationalism.
