A Magistrates’ Court in Abuja has adjourned until April 15 the trial of a civil servant, Priscilla Dombin, who is facing allegations of breach of trust, cheating and criminal intimidation over an alleged N6 million vehicle deal.

Dombin was charged by the police on three counts bordering on breach of trust, cheating and criminal intimidation.

The presiding Magistrate, Lami Sani, fixed the adjournment date on Wednesday after listening to the testimony of a businessman, Akin Oyegoke, who appeared as a prosecution witness.

Oyegoke told the court that he became acquainted with the defendant in 2021 and she allegedly promised to help him purchase a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) from the Nigeria Customs Service for the sum of N6 million.

According to him, Dombin asked that he first pay N2 million as part payment for the vehicle and complete the balance of N4 million upon delivery.

He stated that after making the payment into the defendant’s bank account, the vehicle was never delivered and the money was not refunded despite repeated demands.

Oyegoke further told the court that the defendant later apologised for the failed transaction and promised to refund the money.

However, he alleged that the situation later escalated when she began to threaten him.
“She later threatened to scatter my marriage if I mentioned the issue to anybody,” he told the court.

The witness said he eventually reported the matter to the police due to what he described as threats, intimidation and blackmail from the defendant.
