Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) Visits Ajayi Crowther University
A glimpse of yesterday’s visit of Primate of the Church of Nigeria (Anglican Communion) – Most Rev. Dr. Henry C. Ndukuba D.D to Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo with the Visitor to the University – Most Rev. Dr. J. Akinfenwa PhD (Chair , Supra West Board and Bishop of Ibadan Diocese), the Secretary to the House of Bishops in Nigeria – Rt. Rev. Dr. Williams Aladekugbe (Bishop of Ibadan North Diocese) and Rt. Rev. Dr. Kemi Oduntan (Bishop of Oyo Diocese).
The Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Ajayi Crowther University, Oyo – Dr. Olutoyin Okeowo led the Management Team, Staff and students to receive the Primate’s delegation from Abuja.
The Primate during the visit listened to representatives of the university community and conveyed the sympathy and deep concerns of the church over the recent events to the Management and the entire university community. He encouraged the staff and students to be more vigilant and committed to the university mandate, and church teachings in meeting various public expectations in their engagements.
The Primate later took a tour of physical inspection of the university facilities and led three separate prayer sessions during the tour in different locations to fervently pray for the good of the university and mercy of God against a future reoccurrence of violence and violation of the university sanctity.
The Primate’s delegation departed the campus late in the afternoon for a return to Abuja after visiting the university for a day’s journey of hours of travel, visit, meetings, and prayer session.
The University management led by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Timothy Abiodun Adebayo appreciated the visit of the Primate. The visit was described as a positive step, a morale booster and an assurance of the confidence enjoyed by the university as it continues to pursue the mandate of higher education in raising godly intellectuals and attracting support from the church and well meaning Nigerians.
