Presidential Poll:Ekiti Elders Forum Speaks Against Call For Interim Govt

By Gbenga Sodeinde

The Ekiti Elders under the auspices of Ekiti Council Of Elders has again joined their voices to kick against  the call for an Interim National Government in the Country.

The Elders group in a statement signed and made available to Heritagenewsng yesterday by its President, Professor Joseph Oluwasanmi and General Secretary, Elder Niyi Ajibulu, after rising from it’s March 2023 plenary held in Ado Ekiti, extensively deliberated on the State of the Nation, with particular regard to the February 25 presidential election, and expressed deep concerns on some extra Judicial activities of some political parties and some unpatriotic elements capable of plunging the Country into crisis.

According to the President, Professor Joseph Oluwasanmi and General Secretary, Elder Niyi Ajibulu, the Elders recounts their worry how the DSS openly confirmed the nefarious intention to subvert the transition process and the Country’s fledgling democracy with cruel calls for the cancellation of a free and credible election and for the oddity of an interim national government.

The Council maintained further that, for the survival of the nation, they urged all concerned not to allow tribal, sectional or individual interests to undermine the corporate existence of the Country.

Specifically, the Council averred that the relevant authority having concluded the presidential election and declared a winner, advised the promoters of an Interim National Government to be civil and adopt a better option where every aggrieved person would explore by taking legal avenues to seek redress.

The Elders group equally  used the opportunity to remind such people to remember that the Country belongs to all Nigerians, explaining that such will only continue to generate bad blood, distrust and gaping fault lines in the polity.
