Police Parade Notorious Kidnappers Who Abducted Popular Petrol Dealer, Akinbami In Ekiti

Heritagenewsng reports that Ekiti state police command have arrested and paraded some suspects alleged to have been responsible for various kidnappings in the state.

This was made known during a press briefing by the Public Relation Officer of Ekiti state police command, ASP Abutu Sunday on Monday, November 8, 2021 in Ado-Ekiti.

According to the briefing, the suspects whose names were given as Bunmi Ogunremi who was identified as the son of a prominent Chief in Ado-Ekiti and one Ige Adu from Ikere-Ekiti were arrested on 06/11/2021 at about 16:00hrs by the command’s Rapid Response Squad(RRS), based on thorough investigation for multiple kidnappings and other heinous crimes.

The police stated that, during interrogation, the suspects confessed to be responsible for the kidnapping of one Olowo Bolaji in Ipoti-Ekiti on 29/01/2020.

The suspects also confessed to have kidnapped a popular Petrol dealer in Ekiti state, Alhaji Suleiman Akinbami on 10/01/2020 in Ado-Ekiti.

The suspects stated further that they kidnapped one Mrs Olalusi Dapo, theu wife of a Surveyor-General sometime this year.

The police in its briefing to the public by the command’s P.R.O stated further that the suspects confessed to have also kidnapped one late Chief Abiodun Ajayi earlier this year in Ado-Ekiti who jumped from their vehicle but later died in the hospital during treatment due to the injuries he sustained.

The alleged kidnappers were said to have confessed that they usually keep their victims in the house of one late Chief Bafon, located at Water Works, Ado-Ekiti and sometimes moved them to Ayere forest in Kogi state before demanding for ransom.

During interrogation by the police, the suspects mentioned other members of their gang which include one Banji Akeem a.k.a Oro who was earlier arrested by the RRS operatives for the offence of armed robbery and still in RRS custody. Other accomplice mentioned are one Samuel a.k.a Samuel Ebira, Jimoh Dele a.k.a Dele Petim, Dayo Igwe and Johnson a.k.a Yellow Okada who are presently at large.

The police stated further that concerted effort led to the arrest of one Taiwo Fayoke who confessed to be their food supplier whenever victims are held hostage.

The items recovered from the suspects are;

I. Five locally made barrel guns

ii. One Toyota Corolla Car

iii. Thirteen rounds of live cartridges.

iv. Two locally made double barrel guns.

The command’s P.R.O said effort is ongoing by the police to get other suspects arrested.

The command declared a ransom of five million naira for anyone with useful information concerning the whereabouts of the fleeing suspects.
