Oyebode:Tribunal Verdict Affirms Mandate Ekiti People Freely Gave to Gov. Oyebanji

The Chief Press Secretary to Ekiti state Governor and also Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yinka Oyebode has said the recent judgement delivered by the election petition tribunal in Ekiti state affirmed the mandate freely given by the people to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji.

He said this on Wednesday while featuring on a radio interview program on Voice FM, Ado-Ekiti. The govenor’s spokesman said the tribunal ruling was landmark that can withstand the test of time.

Oyebode added that the June 18 governorship election in Ekiti was free, credible and fair devoid of any electoral malpractices.

“The ruling of Election petition tribunal on Ekiti gubernatorial election affirmed the mandate Ekiti people freely gave to Governor Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji. The Election is free, fair and credible.

“All the case brought to the Ekiti Election Tribunal was knocked out and the Tribunal ruling was landmark ruling that can withstand the test of time”

The governor’s aide also spoke on some laudable steps that Gov. Oyebanji has taken to fast-track the development of the state such as consultation with some relevant stakeholders both within and outside the state, collaboration with ministries, Departments and Agencies within and outside the state.

He stated further that the governor has started investing on road, power, water supply and other public utilities in the state.

“Governor Oyebanji started his administration on the mantra of all round development and collaboration with Ministries, Departments and Agencies within and outside the state.

“The Governor has started investing on road, power, water supply, infrastructure and other public utilities in the State”

When asked on what step the government has taken to restore electricity back to some communities that have been in total darkness for years, Oyebode said the Governor has been in synergy with National Electricity Regulation Commission(NERC) and other institutions to restore light back to these communities.

The governor’s aide also gave hint on the ongoing independent power plant in Ekiti state which he said it is nearly completion and added that the idea behind the power plant is to power the streetlights across Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ekiti State University and other major public institutions.

“Governor Abayomi Oyebanji has been in synergy with National Electricity Regulation Commission(NERC) and other institutions in order to restore power supply to some communities and settlement in Ekiti state.I

“The ongoing independent Power plant in Ekiti state is nearly 75% completion. The idea behind the power plant is to power the streetlights across Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State Teaching Hospital, Ekiti State University and other major public institutions in Ekiti state”

On the issue of insecurity, the media aide to the Governor said the government is investing both financial, technology and human security to tackle insecurity in the state. He also made mention of the possible establishment of Airforce base in Ekiti which according to him will further enhance security in the state.

“The government is investing both financial, technology and human security to tackle issue of insecurity in Ekiti state. The government is on top of the situation in the state.

“The ground breaking Airforce in Ekiti state will happen any moment from now. The establishment of the Airforce base will enhance security in Ekiti state”
