Ekiti State Governor-elect, Mr Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, has commiserated with the family of a former member of House of Representatives, Hon. George Akawa, who died recently at the age of 65.
While condoling with the wife of the deceased, Mrs. Beatrice Bosede Akawa and other members of the family, Oyebanji described Hon. Akawa as a cool-headed and contented politician, who served Ekiti meritoriously.
” On behalf of the Executive Governor of Ekiti state, His Excellency, Dr. John Kayode Fayemi and my humble self, I condole with the wife, children and the entire family of late Hon. George Akawa over the demise of our respected leader. At the same time I want to use this opportunity to thank the family for their support during our electioneering campaign.
“I am one of the products of Egbon Akawa’s school of politics. I benefitted from him and learnt alot from him. He was a contented man that left a very great legacy behind. If there is anything about Mr Akawa, it is integrity,”
Speaking further, the Governor-elect promised to do everything within his care to support the family and prayed that God would grant the family the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
Earlier, the younger brother of the deceased, Mr. Zacchaeus Akawa, had, on behalf of the family, expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a great honour to the memory of his late brother.
