The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Biodun Oyebanji has charged the newly recruited teachers in public primary schools in the State to always display integrity in the discharge of their duties and shun vices that could negatively impact their productivity.
Governor Oyebanji gave the charge while declaring open a 3-day training workshop for 1,500 newly recruited teachers into public primary schools in the State.
He said that the recruitment exercise would to a reasonable extent ameliorate the problem of low personnel in basic education sector in the State.
The Governor who spoke through the Special Adviser on Education, Science and Technology, Dr Adebimpe Aderiye said that the recruitment exercise was based on merit, urging the new teachers to take advantage of the 3-day induction program to improve their capabilities in the quest to shape the future of pupils in the public primary schools in the State.
He explained that the recent payment of N1.2billion counterpart fund to UBEC was part of strategies of his administration to set the stage for the provision of conducive teaching and learning environment in public schools in the State.
In her goodwill message, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Habibat Adubiaro admonished the newly employed teachers to take full advantage of the induction training program to enhance their professional skills as teachers.
She also urged them to take their new appointment with utmost seriousness and ensure that they set good examples for their pupils to follow.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Executive Chairman, Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board,Prof. Femi Akinwumi explained that the training program was organized to prepare the newly recruited teachers for the task ahead and expose them to latest teaching methodologies.
Porf Akinwumi stated that it was imperative for the teachers to be well trained so as to be able to gain the necessary skills needed to impact positively on the children in schools.
The SUBEB Boss said that the training serves as a forum to help the newly employed teachers gain the required knowledge to positively influence the future generation as the teachers are expected to go into their classrooms to teach the pupils all they have learnt.
